WELCOME TO OUR ADAPTIVE SNOWSPORTS
VISIT BELLEAYRE MOUNTAIN ADAPTIVE SNOWSPORTS ON FACEBOOK
The Belleayre Adaptive Snowsports Program opens in December and runs seven days a week until our season ends. We offer hourly, 2 hour or full day lessons. We provide Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced lessons for Mono or Bi Skiers, 3 Track, 4 Track, Blind and Autistic/DD students. Lessons are booked by reservation only.
The Belleayre Snowsports program opened in 2006.
In 2010 we opened our Adaptive Building near the Overlook and Discovery Lodges. The building is completely handicap accessible and has ample handicap parking close.
Students are able to exit the building right on to the snow to start their lessons.
Our program is staffed by PSIA and ASIA trained instructors, who have an unquenchable love for the sport and a desire to share it with others. Our goal is to help our adaptive guests acquire the skills they need to be able to ski with their friends and families.
We offer lessons for cognitive and developmental disabilities as well as visual or hearing impairments and other physical disabilities through the use of adaptive skiing and riding techniques and specialized equipment: 3 and 4 track stand up skiing, sit down skiing using mono-ski or bi-ski devices and specialized snowboard equipment.
Several types of terrain are available depending on the student’s ability to ski. First time students will get an overview of the equipment, fittings, and set up time. It will take approximately 1 hour to complete a new students fitting.
Returning students will be fitted with equipment and be on the snow for approximately 2hours, if capable. Student Evaluation forms will be mailed at the time of reservation, or can be downloaded from our website, and must be completed before the lesson.
Due to the high demand for lessons Reservations are a MUST.
Three and 4 track, and sit down skiers begin and end lessons at the Adaptive building. All other Adaptive Lessons will begin and end at the Discovery Lodge.
